Karlyn Nieland, NP, PMHM

Nurse Practitioner Supervisor

Karlyn is a nurse practitioner currently based in Santa Fe, New Mexico. She studied human development at UC San Diego and completed her masters degree in nursing at Yale University. After graduation she completed a 1 year primary care residency at the West Haven VA hospital where she worked alongside a group of interdisciplinary trainees to hone primary care skills while serving the veteran population.

She then made Portland, Oregon her home and worked for 7 years as a primary care provider at Outside In Medical Clinic, focusing on providing exceptional and accessible care to folks often met by barriers and stigma in healthcare. She returned to school in 2021 to complete a PMHNP certification through Frontier University. She is excited to be working at Boulder Care and focusing on addiction medicine which seamlessly combines her professional interests; patient empowerment and autonomy, harm-reduction medicine, and healthcare innovation.

Despite a background grounded in evidence-based medicine, Karlyn finds that the center of health truly lies in our ability to create kind and nurturing ties to each other and the environment. She hopes her curiosity and groundedness will support others wherever they are on their path of wellness. Outside of work you’ll find her swimming wherever she can find water.
