Boulder's Adolescent Care Team

Mirianie G.

Enrollment Specialist

What is your experience with youth?

Prior to working at Boulder I was working at a pediatric behavioral health office for 4 years. It was for ages 4-17. We dealt with very different types of BH issues. ADD, ADHD, verbal autism and SA. Some were court ordered mandatory and others were voluntarily. I was the receptionist and team leader, the patients were very attached to familiar faces and didn't like when a new person came in. I made sure they always felt welcomed. I come from a big family and have three children of my own. I feel honored to be able to help adolescents with SUD.

Why are you part of the adolescent care team at Boulder?

I love that we have the opportunity to help adolescents with SUD before they're an adult. If they need the help now then why wait until they become 18. I'm part of this team because I would want someone to help and care my children with the compassion I have as well.

What do you LOVE in your own life?

I love my children first and foremost. We love to hang out, eat popcorn and watch movies. We also love water parks, zoos, and aquariums. I love to treat everyone with kindness, respect and love. I'm a firm believer in "it's not what you say it's how you say it". Always willing to help others in any way I can because I know what it feels like to not have help or support.

Why do you think it's important for young people (under 18) to get care & support for substance use?

I think it's immensely important for young people to get care and support for SUD because you already have so many different challenges at that age, hormones, school, friends, life and then to add a disease like SUD it just makes growing up and trying to succeed in life much so harder.

Anything else to include?

I feel honored to be able to start a pilot with adolescents and so thankful to work for a company like Boulder care that actually does care about our patients and make a huge difference and impact in the healthcare and in our communities.

There's more to meet!

MD

Riki A.

As emergency medicine includes all patient from birth to old age I naturally wanted to join the adolescent care team with Boulder. Going the extra mile for my younger patients feels very important to me as I know navigating the world and the health care system as a teen or young adult can be really challenging.

As a parent to two adolescents I know that if either of them were ever struggling with substance use I would want them to receive the kind of compassionate and non judgmental care that Boulder Care offers to all of its patients. I want to be a provider in a treatment program that makes it easy for adolescents to access compassonate and evidence based care.
